Update

For those of you who follow my blog, probably not a whole lot...I'm sorry it's been so long since we've updated anything. We successfully moved to Cedar City. We are excited to be closer to John and Brinda in Panguitch, and still close to St. George as well. Nate started working at Quality Inn which is a great job for him to do his homework on his downtime. We love our new apartment and we are getting adjusted to our new ward, it's a fun family ward, different than we have ever been in before. Our first week there we made friends with a guy that said he'd take our pictures for free, that's what these are. It took probably 5 minutes all together. Get a load of Jaxson's personality, I can't believe he took so many good pictures in such a short time. We're so glad Jaxson was happy, it's almost impossible to get toddlers to do well in pictures. He was telling the photographer off I think in the first picture. What a cute kid, he's been teething, his back molars, and has had diarrhea and periodic fevers. But he still has been a good kid throughout the process. He's growing up fast, everyone says he looks at least 2 1/2 years old, if he could actually communicate and not get so frustrated when he tries to tell us something, then I probably would agree on that age. He jabbers a ton and when we say words he understands, but he can't quite get the hang of pronunciation. And I know it will come soon for sure, we'll probably want him to stop talking by then. I am almost done with coaching this season for SUVA, it's been a good learning experience. 14 year old girls are full of attitude sometimes, so it was a challenge at times. But anything to put on my resume is good right? I get to play in the Utah Summer Games in june with some old friends I used to play volleyball with, I'm excited for that. School for us in the summer starts next week...can we say yay? I guess I'm just excited to be closer to being done...

Easter Egg Hunt!

Jaxson cried his eyes out when he saw the easter bunny...you tell me why you think that is....

It was a rainy day in St. George for an Easter Egg Hunt! That doesn't happen very often so it was a bummer that today of all days it was raining. Jaxson was wanting just to eat the candy, which was fine, once we got his excitement up for putting candy into his basket, he got the hang of it. We couldn't believe all the overagressive parents stuffing a ton of candy and eggs into their kids baskets. Nate said if he was helping Jaxson, he would have been among that group of crazy adults. My theory is that they do this holiday for the kids anyway, and Jaxson right now would be happy with just a couple little things of candy anyway, so I just let him do his own thing. It worked out great, and Nate was able to learn a valuable lesson....that he didn't want to appear like a crazy selfish over-agressive parent, stealing candy from a baby. And that's what all these parents were doing from Jaxsons little area he was at, I couldn't believe it. But overall, it was a lot of fun, and we're glad that Jaxson is part of our family to celebrate easter with.

April 3-5 weekend

We had such a fabulous weekend up in Salt Lake/Orem area this weekend. For those of you who don't know, I'm coaching a club volleyball team here in St. George. They are 14 years old, and the cutest girls. We sure have fun, but I'm also a little competetive which is hard for 14 year olds to comprehend. Anyway, practices are sometimes not fun for the girls because we are working hard on fundamentals, which is important for improving. They are improving a ton, well at least the ones that listen and apply themselves. We ended up taking first in our tournament over the weekend, and the first two tournaments we took 41st, and 43rd. Talk about a huge improvement. These girls know now how fun it is to win now, which makes me excited, because I think they will try harder now. But I do need some good volleyball drills for this age level if anyone has any suggestions!!!The next amazing part of our weekend was that we got tickets spur of the moment to.....

The sunday morning session. That was a fun session because right before is Music and the Spoken Word that they record, which totally helped the spirit to flow in that ginormous building. I enjoyed and got more out of conference than I ever did before. Just feeling the General Authorities presence and hearing their inspiring words made me cry so much.
And how about this stud....Isn't he amazing? He has a story to tell about any and every detail in the world. He is living his message, and it makes me want to too! The greatest thing that I got out of it was that I need to find Joy and happiness in my life no matter how hard my circumstances. The atonement and the gospel provide the way to having that joy NOW! not just in the eternities. I love this church!
We also got to spend a lot of time with Nate's sister Heidi and her family. Jaxson had so much fun playing with his little cousins Anna and Eva. I need to borrow the pics from her that she took then I can post them. For some reason the new SD card we got doesn't work on our computer, and I can't find the cords to the camera to plug into the computer, so sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything!!

Happy Birthday Nate!

We had so much fun this weekend celebrating Nate's birthday! We missed Jaxson every second, but it was a great get-away. We hung out on sunday with Nate's brother Cory and they sang to him, that was very thoughtful! Troy and Sherrie and TJ were there as well. Then we got to spend the night in the Trump Hotel! It's a 5 star hotel, and there were no slot machines in the hotel at all, that's the part we loved the most! We probably should have done this trip on our anniversary...it was just very special. Happy Birthday Nate! I love you so much!

Suprise

SUPRISE FOR YOU! (If you are the fastest!)

My friend, Melissa, posted this to her blog. So here is the catch and here is your chance to be surprised too! What a fun and great way to do something for someone else.

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year.
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or an article on properly cleaning your face before a masque. I may draw, paint or sew something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who enter on your blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they posted this wins a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! I love the thought of making something just for you. I love this idea!
* Now if you don't have a blog, that's ok you can still sign up and pick 5 people on your own- surprise them!

Catching up

Well I can't believe its been over a month. Jaxson is growing really tall, and plays plays plays all day long. And is messy messy messy!! We had fun at St. George's most fun park over in hidden valley if anyone hasn't been there yet! It's so worth it, kids of all ages just love it, especially during the summer when the water is going! Jaxson recently learned to slide forward, before he kept sliding down backward on his tummy. He loves to play.

Jaxson with his cousins Kaylie and Abbey

Jaxson's new truck for christmas! He got so spoiled this year, I think next year when he really understands christmas, we'll just make sure he only gets one present from us!
Merry Christmas!

Cousin Jaden was so nice to share with Jaxson
Our fun fam
Brinda, Kaitlyn, John and Jaden!
As for Nate and I we are busy this year. We are both in school, Nate at Dixie, me at SUU. Nate is graduating with his associates finally after this semester then about a year and a half more then he'll be done with his bachelors. I am about two semesters away from graduating, and probably have been that close for three years! ahh, well at least I am working hard still to make sure I get graduated. I am also coaching for Southern Utah Volleyball Association, a 14 year old team and we have our first tournament in Salt Lake this weekend, wish us luck!! We are really happy right now, now I'd be even happier if I could lose my goal of 20 lbs, wish me luck on that too!

Another Snow Day Story

We had another snow day, like right after I posted the first snow day, and this one put the other one to shame. Well, st. george is pathetic I think, well used to think at least. We got three inches yesterday morning, and they cancelled school yesterday. I thought that was the pathetic part, but I just found out why...St. george doesn't have plows for the city, and the buses don't have snow tires or chains, and the bus drivers are not trained to drive in the snow, so it's a legal thing why school is cancelled. They haven't cancelled school in 10 years, when I was in 7th grade, I remember that was the best day of the year to get out of school for the snow. Funny story.

Snow Day!

There are not very many snow days in St. George, so we had to go outside and take advantage of it. We made a small snowman, Jaxson tried to help a bit. He actually kept his cute hat on, that's a first!! What a cutie!

Our Free photo shoot

This was so funny because we had a place in mind to get photos taken from my sister, but it happened to be closed on sunday and we didn't have anymore time. So we just found a place in south Jordan where the city offices are, an ice rink and precut trees and just took pictures. It wasn't anything special, we just needed to get a cheap christmas photo. But I think they turned out nice. Jaxson was a pain the whole time, You can't tell too much but we didn't get any good smiles. Most of you who see my blog will get a christmas card with these pics anyway, but here's a sneak peak!!

Jaxson was extra scared of the weeds we put him in, if he would have smiled it would have been the cutest picture of all.

Thanksgiving/Christmas reunion weekend 2008

We have a family reunion on the Holt side every two years at Thanksgiving time. There are a lot of Holts thats for sure, and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger every year with marriages and babies being born. This year there were only 100 that could make it to the reunion and there are well over 200 I think. This year we had a big family picture, a talent show, crafts for the kids, karaoke, basketball, volleyball, a fabulous thanksgiving dinner, and yummy pie. Nate's sister Jacquelyn planned it all and it went so well. Nate is a big gamer, so when some of the cousins get together to play cards then we're always there til really late. Friday we have a tradition of shopping day after thanksgiving stuff. We got shoes at big 5, then I went into old navy right by it, and lost my wallet and we were searching for an hour for it. Once we gave up and started driving, old navy called and said someone just turned it in. How blessed are we??!! But we were done shopping after that long day. Then we went to Twilight for the first time. All I have to say is that I'm sorely disappointed in the movie. With all the money the book made and all the money that is floating around in that industry, why couldn't they have made it a better quality with a better director. If they don't make the next one better quality then I think they are pocketing a ton. Off my soap box now...the other tradition we have is doing the live Nativity at tuacahn. That was a fun experience. We all dress up as parts like mary and joseph, the wisemen, shepherds, angels etc. there are live animals and we act out the nativity.
Saturday was the Christmas party that I had the opportunity to plan this year. We had lunch and it was so yummy, soup bowls and lots of salads and sides that the family brought. I love the food when the Jack Holt family gets together. We had a lot of fun games for the kids, santa dress up relay, balloon battle, the christmas present game. All the grandkids are so much fun. Then Santa came and asked the kids what they want for Christmas. It was a lot of fun and worth all the preparation. Grandma Kaye said that they were wore out by sunday, but if it's only once every two years for all the fun reunion stuff, then it's totally worth it!! Jaxson was so much fun this weekend and was suprisingly good. Gotta love that kid!
Happy Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas!!
